What this tool does
Edit PDF Text is a private, in-browser workbench for short corrections. Click existing lines to replace them, place new text, or erase (cover) a line. Queue many changes across pages, undo/redo as you go, then apply and preview the result. Best for born-digital PDFs with light backgrounds.
How to use it
- Upload a PDF that contains selectable text (or use Add text on empty/scanned pages).
- Choose Edit, Add text, or Erase. Find matches on the page, then make your changes — they queue automatically.
- Review All changes (jump, edit, or delete any item), apply, check the result preview, and download.
Common use cases
- Correct names, dates, or reference numbers
- Add a missing label or short note
- Erase a wrong line before sharing
- Batch a handful of fixes across pages in one pass
FAQs
- What’s the difference between Edit, Add text, and Erase?
- Edit replaces an existing selectable line. Add text stamps new text where you click. Erase covers a line with the page background color and draws nothing on top.
- Can I undo a mistake?
- Yes — use Undo/Redo in the toolbar, or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y (Esc clears the current selection).
- How do I match a non-white page background?
- Select a line and click Match page background to sample the cover color near that text. You can still fine-tune Cover color manually.
- Can I edit a scanned or image-only PDF?
- Selectable text is required for Edit/Erase. You can still Add text on top. OCR PDF can recognize scan text to a file today, but it does not rebuild an editable PDF yet.
- Will paragraphs reflow like in Word?
- No. Changes visually cover and/or stamp text in place. Keep corrections short so they fit the original area.
- Does the PDF leave my device?
- No. Detection, editing, and export run locally in your browser.
